Something Borrowed?

Something Old
Something New
Something Borrowed
Something Blue...

Every bride goes through this checklist multiple times leading up to their big day.  Singing it in your head, looking for things to fit the rhyme, everyone does.  Because if you don't, you might as well write off having a successful marriage, right?  Well at least that is what superstition leads us to believe and who are we to break this time honored tradition?

The most important thing to most brides is coming up with the best way to fulfill this rhyme.  While trolling the internet for the best way to fulfill my shopping addiction, I came upon  Rent The Runway.  Clearly, I joined in hopes that one day I would have a reason to rent and wear a $1,000 Herve Leger dress.  While that day has still not come, an interesting day has arrived, the day that Rent The Runway began to rent bridal accessories!

A new trend that has really caught on, is the addition of a sparkle belt to add a hint of bling to otherwise bling-less wedding dresses.  Rent The Runway currently has 3 different styles to choose from.  Considering they are $300 Badgley Mischka belts, the $50 cost to rent is really a steal.  They are the high-end accessory that every bride wants but few can afford.

While the selection specifically for bridal accessories isn't that large, I can only imagine that it will grow in time.  The website has really expanded since I first signed up. They now have a For the Bride Boutique with dress options for your rehearsal or shower and all of the accessories in one place.

But, every bride doesn't need just "bridal accessories", they also have quite the jewelry selection. Bracelets, earrings, necklaces, they've got it all.  You can even have bridesmaids rent jewelry if you have a certain look in mind, but, few can afford to pay full price for the look.

The nicest part of the entire thing, is that you can have it for up to 8 days.  You simply put in the date you wish to receive it, and then send it back when you're done prior to the time being expired.  Although I haven't tired the rental process, I have yet to hear any complications about using the site.

While it's always nice to have something to keep from your wedding, I'm a firm believer that it should be something worth keeping AND using.  Sadly, there are limited uses for $300 sparkle belts beyond your wedding day.  But, Rent the Runway gives you the ability to have that day without the cost.  And when chances are you're already spending big bucks on your big day, saving at every chance really counts.

Good luck and Happy Heisting!
Danielle
